La spécialité gastronomique de Romans: La Pogne

Flavoured with orange blossom, pogne is a traditional kind of brioche that hails from the Romans-sur-Isère region. Known to have been around since the Middle Ages, traditionally it was eaten at the end of Lent, when good Christians were forbidden from eating eggs.

Pogne contains lots of egg, celebrating the fact that over the Easter feast days eggs were back on the menu! Nowadays this speciality brioche is available all year round, having lost its original religious significance over time.
