Route du Col de Rousset

Route du Col de Rousset
Col de Rousset26420 Saint-Agnan-en-Vercors

This pass marks the climatic north and south divide of the Alps, with Provence on one side and lush mountains on the other. The contrast is particularly noticeable when the weather plays games, with mist one side and bright sunshine on the other!

The Rousset pass is one of those rare places that allows access onto the Vercors Massif. It directly links Die to the Le Vercors plateau via a tunnel at 1,254 metres in altitude. It was blasted through in 1979 and is 769 m long. It replaced the previous construction dating back to 1866, and runs parallel to this one. The original pass to the crest of the ridge overlooks the tunnel at 1,367 metres in altitude and is only accessible on foot.
Two orientation tables allow you to explore the magnificent panoramic view. One is located at the tunnel’s entrance on the Diois side, and the other is at the top of the ski resort’s chairlift (accessible in summer and in winter via the chairlift, and on foot at other times of year)
